Steven B. Johnson, MD, FACS, FCCM
Program Director, Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency Program

Dr. Steven B. Johnson is Professor of Surgery and Chairman (Banner/VA) of the Department of Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. As the program director of the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency program, he provides key clinical and educational oversight for all surgical residency trainees as well as medical students. He specializes in trauma, general surgery, and surgical critical care. In addition to his strong interest in surgical education, Dr. Johnson has interest in shock, surgical sepsis, pancreatitis, and critically ill surgical patients. Dr. Johnson is board certified in general surgery and critical care surgery. He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, and completed his surgical residency training at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Prior to coming to Phoenix in 2011, Dr. Johnson was Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Critical Care at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and the Department of Surgery of the University of Maryland School of Medicine where he also served as the previous program director for the Trauma and Critical Care fellowship program there.

Amy Sisley, MD, MPH, FACS

Director of Simulation for the Department of Surgery

Dr. Sisley earned her Medical Degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also holds an MPH from Emory University. Dr. Sisley completed her Surgical residency at the University of Chicago and her Trauma/Critical Care fellowship at Emory University. She is internationally known for your work and education in Ultrasound for Trauma and Critical Care. She is the Ultrasound National Course Director for the American College of Surgeons. Prior to joining our faculty, Dr. Sisley was the Division Chief for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at Henry Ford Medical Center. Prior to that she was the Director of Resident Education at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland. She has led research in Trauma and Critical Care with published work appearing in book chapters and journals. Dr. Sisley is the Associate Program Director for the residency and Director of Simulation for the Department. Dr. Sisley is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona - Phoenix College of Medicine.

V. "Bob" Evani, MD
Associate Program Director, Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency

Dr. Evani earned his Medical Degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He completed his surgery training in Michigan beforee moving to Phoenix where he has become a respected general surgeon. He has an active clinical general surgery practice and is active in teaching having won residency teaching awards in the past. Dr. Evani is Chief of the Section of Breast Surgery.

Michael Conway, MD, Associate Director of Simulation Center

Dr. Michael Conway is a board-certified surgeon. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He completed an internship at Memorial Hospital and a residency at Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency Program. Dr. Michael Conway has been practicing since 1970.

Julie Wall
Program Coordinator for Phoenix Integrated Surgery Residency

Julie is the "go to" person for the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency program. As the program coordinator, she takes care of the overall management of the program including but not limited to: credentialing, licensing, human resources, supply ordering, HIPAA, OSHA, and all state and Federal compliance. Most importantly, she manages the day-to-day activities, schedules, certifications, and human resource/personnel issues for the residents.

Ara Feinstein, MD, MPH, FACS
Medical Student Clerkship Director

Dr. Ara Feinstein is board certified in general surgery and critical care surgery. He earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut and completed his General Surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in affiliation with Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Ara Feinstein completed his Trauma/Critical Care fellowship at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. He is currently a team surgeon with a Federal Disaster Team and a member of state and national organizations. Dr. Feinstein is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and the Surgical Clerkship Director at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix.

Tacha Lyons
Medical Student Surgery Clerkship Coordinator

Tacha Lyons is the medical student surgery clerkship coordinator and is responsible for all third and fourth year medical student rotations and rotation assignments. She is diverse in many skills including multi-tasking, Microsoft Office and is detail oriented. During Tacha's tenure with Banner Health she has worked in Medical Education and Administration. When Tacha is not working she enjoys spending time reading and writing romance books. She has three wonderful children and two beautiful granddaughters in Seattle.

Lori Warren
Program Coordinator for Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Residency

Lori Warren is the program coordinator for the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program. She provides the administrative support to the program and manages the day-to-day activities, schedules, certifications, and human resource/personnel issues for residents in the program.
